07/10/2017--Counts on the Fly Feature is Back!-Home Energy Score Boot Camp July 20 & 21-Tech Tip: Keep Your Browsers Up to Date

Counts on the Fly Feature is Back!

Rapattoni has the great feature called Counts on the Fly that automatically displays a current search results count as you complete your search criteria. A little while ago, the feature started causing accuracy issues with Open House and Broker Tour searches. Counts on the Fly was disabled as a courtesy for everyone who had it enabled and they were notified via email. We are happy to announce that the issue has been resolved and Counts on the Fly will automatically be turned on today for everyone who had it previously enabled.

If you didn’t have Counts on the Fly enabled, but are interested in doing so, go to the Admin menu in the MLS and select Your Preferences. Enable Counts on the Fly in the Searching Defaults section and don’t forget to Save in the upper left area.

Home Energy Score Boot Camp July 20 & 21

The following is a message from Kellen Dammann of the Marin County Community Development Agency’s Sustainability Team:

The Home Energy Score is a rating system for single family homes that informs homeowners on how efficient their home is on a scale of 1 to 10. It was developed by the US Department of Energy and is being administered in the Bay Area by StopWaste (a non-profit based in Alameda) and the Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN).  The score is designed to help homeowners understand how they can make their homes more comfortable and efficient based on a straight forward and easy to understand rating system that comes with recommended measures. The score is designed to help home inspectors and other building professional working in this space by providing rebates ($300 for the first home scored and $150 for each home scored after) that can be added on top of normal fees and that are paid directly to the contractor. Participating contractors also benefit from having an additional service they can offer, and for most home inspectors and home energy efficiency contractors, the data points required to create a Home Energy Score can be easily added to their original scope of work.

We are hosting a Home Energy Score boot camp in San Rafael on July 20 and 21 for interested building professionals. The first day will consist of a classroom training on the assessment tool, and the second day will have the online exam and mentor assessment in a real home. The cost of the boot camp is $25 and lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Tech Tip: Keep Your Browsers Up to Date

We’ve had a number of issues arise in the last two weeks from out of date browsers, specifically Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. While these browsers are typically set to update automatically, some people may have disabled that feature. Here is how to manually update your Chrome or Firefox browser:

Google Chrome

Mozilla Firefox

What about Internet Explorer you ask? Internet Explorer updates are included with Windows Updates.
